New Belgium, 2 Below

Look: Amber and almost completely translucent with a slight, white head

Taste: light body with tame spice and floral overtones, dry finish

Conclusion: I saw this one on the shelf for quite a while but fell too deeply in love with New Belgium's 1554. Finally took a crack at it and have since abandoned the 1554...ha!

At 6.6% is still feels like a light brew, but one that's on it's way(it's at the border and going through customs)to being a thicker ale. The spice and floral flavors are slight and you'd think this was a summer ale, if not for it's tendency to warm the stomach. Like Fat Tire it does have a very malty, almost pastry-like, base to it. The beer is dry hopped and also is stored in very cold conditions(hence the name). The finish is, predictably, dry but not so much that it kills the flavor of the drink. This is a great winter concoction.

7 Brews!
