New Belgium, 1554 Enlightened Black Ale

Look: Dark mahogany with a wheat colored head

Taste: Initially tastes of hops and barley with a sweet undertone. Finishes with a subtle chocolate sweetness

Conclusion: Picked up a sixer of this from the liquor store as a gift for a friend who offered to bring his Xbox 360 over to play. This brew came through in the clutch! Sorry no brew pic, I was to busy gamin' it up!

Initially you get a wonderful hop and barley flavor with some spices? I think that's what was in there. Not harsh in the least and the tasting just gets better towards the end. Your left with a chocolate flavor that isn't necessarily sweet but is definitely not bitter. A well rounded black ale that is tasty as can be.

7 Brews!
